Many of my Doll friends have LJ accounts, so they will know much of my news. For those of you that don't know - here's a brief update.

The Narin I had was successfully sold to my good friend Sue. He is absolutely AMAZING now. Even if he is refusing to tell Sue his name just now. All I know is, she loves him dearly and that's what really matters. As for me, I have a new little boy at home! I have named him Jacob Frederick,an DoD (DoC) Kirill. It seems he is a cheeky 8 year old, with a tendency to talk in a silly lazy manner, just because it he gets the giggles at my reaction! This boy is my kid, through and through.

Here he is with his din0saw! lol. Sans face-up and wig for now. I'll be taking more soon!

In other news, Ethan 2 (BBB Tan Apollo) is being shipped this week! I bought him on my birthday! Finally found the most amazing wig. Yes, I finally cracked that little problem! It's a dollzone one and it's perfect!! I got it from Angelesque.co.uk (everyone needs to shop there, it's amazing!)

3 weeks and counting....in hospital

yes, all due ignoring ongoing aches and pains, i am langishing in hospital with a pulled tendon, spasms and a hip that randomly dislocates itself. I only have patientline internet on a keypad that is so tiny, that will lead to many typos. Lots of sites dont work, so I can't tell you how happy I was when LJ worked.

Anyway, I am progressing. Though early mornings hurt like a bitch. I have daily pysio and it helps a ton. watch incoming weeks for a report on my care. it has been patchy at best. i'm shocked really.....some of the nurses are terrible. 70 percent of them are lovely.

i miss gene and all of my dollyfriends...write to me.

Here is my friend Mike! He lives in San Antonio, the Irish hippy that he is. Even he agrees that he and Gene are TWINS! He keeps a picture of Gene in his Myspace and wants to take him out for a Guinness! LOL "Me little mate" He calls him... It makes me squee!

I just haven't bonded with the Narin 43 at all. It makes me sad to admit but he was never really right for Ethan. The main issue is, his skin is too light. I hate to sell him, but I have seen a bobobie 60cm Light Tan that I think will be perfect! If you are interested in buying, see here:

wig thoughts

Ethan has been here two days now. I have to say, I love his mature face, soft smile and dinky size. That said, I can't wait for him to get a new face-up and a non slip wig cap. Also, I think he might need a re-string as he has trouble sitting up. The more I am involved in this hobby the more I'm learning, that it takes a while for a doll to "grow into" himself. When Gene first came home, he was nowhere near himself and it felt like a disaster. I wanted to cry every time I looked at him. This time, if I have a wig ping off I'm "Meh - bloody thing." I still can't get wigs on myself but, it doesn't feel like the end of the world. I am not afraid to have a go.

On the subject if the wig. It looks ok but, while it fits, it doesn't sit flush with his cap. I can fun my fingers along and feel bumps that I can push down. There's a couple of millimeters between the underside of the wig and his head. Even though the wig fits well on his ears and is fully down at the back. The way the two wig pieces are stitched together creates a raised crown and some unsightly lumps and bumps. I really wish I'd waited for a tinybear one.That or bought that one that I saw on eluts, which they don't have anymore. Maybe, once I have a non-slip cap and it's fitting better, I'll like it more. Now though, he looks like a crazed 80s rockstar and I can barely see his face, under all of it. Normally, I'd love that but not in his case.

Does anyone else know where I can get good mohair wigs from. Any places considered!

Minimee rant & opinions

I know a lot of people are getting Minimee dolls, but if you don't know what they are, here's a quick rundown.

Minimees are made by dimdoll. Their promise is that they can make an individual sculpt doll head, from photographs of a real person or celebrity. I want to thank clockwork_house for showing them to me. I think they are a completely amazing idea! Minimee love, look see? That said, this post is going to be a bit of a rant.

Firstly, I want to make it clear that I love fandoms, my life is one big one. However, I cannot understand why someone would make a doll of a celebrity. Johnny Depp, David Tennant and all that. They are real living people, with lives. To me, it just seems a little stalker-ish. If I was a star and someone had made a photo realistic doll of me, I think I'd be creeped out. Character dolls are ok I suppose. Captain Jack, The Dr, Jack Sparrow.. but the actors themselves?

Also, why waste the chance to have a OOAK sculpt by having a celeb one? I mean, more than likely, you'll get bored of that star eventually. Mark my words, in five years time, there will be tons of Minimee's on e-bay. Simply because people have grown away from whatever fandom and are into something else. As a result, these heads will not have the re-sale value that others might. Simply because, that fandom is not as popular as it was and nobodies interested in it anymore.

Example: David Tennant. On DOA EVERY reference pic for the Minimee waiting room was of David as The Doctor. David is gorgeous, but he has done TONS of other stuff besides Dr Who. Blackpool, Casnanova, Takin' Over The Asylum, Rab C. Nesbitt.. to name but a few. Add to that, the fact that he won't be the Dr. for much longer.

My point is - David is not the Dr. and what happens to your lovingly made Dr./David dorrie, when you can't get your fix of the real thing on Saturday nights anymore? That's right my dears.. boredom. David was little seen on TV before he was The Doctor, granted his fan-base will forever be increased after this but still, he will probably have be be more select about the roles he takes, because studios will offer him tons of copycat stuff. That would be a good decision on his part, in my view.

So there's a David Doll in his nice suit, grinning away in 2008. Doll owner will be pondering what to do, now that there is a shiney new actor they like? Please understand, that I am in no way saying people are shallow but tastes change, it's human nature. I just don't see how these celeb portraits can have any saleability or longevity.

Now, I know I said Minimees are brilliant and yes, I still hold that they are. Make a portrait of yourself come to life, draw a character EXACTLY and boom... it's a doll and not a close mold, but the real deal. They are even good if you want to make your own doll based on pics you have seen, say in a fantasy novel. Or in my Ethan's case : You want a living reminder of your spirit guide (granted I chose to make Ethan a Narindoll.)

These examples are where Minimees can shine. Of course, this is just my opinion and I love debate, so comment please.

So, today I phone ParcelFarce, casually like. Not expecting there to be a problem. Through the automated tracking service, I am told that my parcel has been posted using an "untraceable service". How can that be so, if I have a tracking number?

So, I call PF back and have to jump though hoops to speak to a real person. Whereupon someone told me, that they have no record of receiving him yet. "It looks like he might be held at customs", she said. "You better hurry as they only hold items for 48 hours!" So tomorrow, I have to call and try and find out where he is.

I only called because I assumed that the website had not updated, it was all very casual. Now I find out my poor boy's untraceable? It's a good job I did call eh? Is there is a chance he might not have arrived in the UK yet? Phew I am so nervous.

Anyone else been through anything like this... what does "untraceable" actually mean? *grumble" Stupid PF!!! I HATE THEM.

Quick update for you all. I now have all of Ethan's clothing and shoes. His wig is still yet to arrive.

It will go fab with this muslin pants. I am nervous of these cuffs though. Mind you, they fitted on the dolly model, so I should think it will be ok.

Has anyone got any idea's how to scuff up his little boots? They look to shiney right now and I need them to look worn in.Of course, I don't want to overdo it, so I will listen to suggestions before I go ahead.

It hit me that on August 26 Gene will have been with me 3 years (I think - my dates might be fuddled)

The thought got me emo and then I saw, otepoti 's Zan on AU and had a little teary moment.. The first dolls I ever held were Zan and Lufian, who belongs to charliebear! LOL. I will never forget how to felt to hold them for the first time, Zan made me feel totally at peace and Lu, well he gave me odd stirrings, lol. I loved the dolls and the owners right away!

Honestly, still feel like the newbie of the bunch. Gene and I have had a tough start but we are happy now, we could not have got though the Kakky ;-) tears and eventual joys, without our Dollie family.. We love everyone so much and can't wait to see you again!

Mosaic eyes are starting to take the piss. For a start, they request that you don't use checkout on e-bay because they like to calculate their own shipping. Me being me, thought fuck that. I went to there chart and calculated my own. There was only one amount it could be on the chart. I paid by checkout and attached a note saying - I want them shipped to a different address, is this ok? Let me know if you need more shipping. I sent that twice.
Anyway, the bloody eyes have arrived HERE this morning. It's a good job that I am going to town tomorrow, so I can post them to Lindsay.. GRRRRR neutral feedback I THINK?! Why oh why do these companies have such stupid shipping rules? Surely, if they want business, it's in their interests to make it easier?

In other news, Ethan is getting a lovely muslin shirt made by the same girl who made the drawstring pants. She averages out at about 10 quid an item, wth 3 quid postage. Pretty good. Pics soon!

Holy heck I thought I never would. You may have seen these on DoA They are perfect for him! I also decided against the shoes I bought, when I found these, I am gunna scuff them just a bit, and leave them loosely laced, if not undone. Now, I have to find a top. Shouldn't be too hard.

He's on 7-10 day shipping and postage was £25 (ish) She's putting These eyes in him for me and I found these cute shoes but looking at them again, I dunno if they are too young for him. He won't wear them much they are for meets, so maybe it doesn't matter. .seems he likes to go barefoot most of the time.

I've asked Lyndsay to put some clothes in the box, I hope she does. Holy crap, HOW difficult is it to find simple separates for Narin 43 boys? If you have a Goth or Visual inspired boy,there's lots of things. However, Ethan has simple tastes. He favors natural linen and white. At least as a guide, that's how he appears in my mind.

I've placed a WTB thread on AU, I hope someone bites. There is this rather adorable sweater, which he seems to like - so I may buy it. I have another look in mind, but I'll save that for a later post. Hopefully, these eyes will arrive ok so she can ship him. Wig wise, I've ordered one from prismage on e-bay, in a soft brown called 'cola'. Amber charged me 16 USD with FREE shipping! Seems a very nice girl.

He's coming together really well. It's magical. LLLALLA! I hope this is giving you ideas otepoti

I am so excited about ordering my Narin at the end of month I could pop. To be honest, I'd forgotten what it feels like, it's the best buzz. What's good about Ethan, is he's a 43 which means I'll be able to take him with me much more easily than I can Gene. God knows I love that red head, but my! His hands are irreplaceable so he has to stay home a lot, poor chap. I really hope I can experiment more with Ethan, take him out, challenge myself more. EEEEE Squee.

Anyway here is a rundown of my decisions on Ethan

Skintone: Tanning
Faceplate: 2/3 closed eyes
Knee: Old (The new knees need work, I think)
Eyes: Brown
Resin: I really think that I will choose French because by all accounts, it is more translucent. I need to see comparison pics before I can make up my mind.
Face up: This is an interesting one. I think I might let Team Narin do it. What I'm planning is really quite natural, so I think I might be happy with what they offer. It's a bronze and brown colour range. Because Ethan is Creole, he needs a dark coffee lip, with quite a Matte gloss. Bronzish blushing to his cheeks and temples. For his eyeliner: The usual black liner,maybe dark brown - to make his lashes look longer.
